One Hundred and Twenty: Don’t Quit (poem)

Don’t quit. It’s way easier to give up than to continue trucking. To take another step. To continue trying. Trying new things, different things. Knowing that one day it will pass. That tomorrow is yet another day. I need the reminder today.

I read this poem on an awesome blog here

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong as they surely will,
When the path you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
and you want to smile but you need to sigh,
When things are pressing you down a bit –
Rest if you must but don’t ever quit!

Life is a challenge with it’s twists and turns,
as each of us eventually learns,
Too many turn about
When they might have won had they stuck it out!
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
you may succeed with another go.

Often the goal is closer than it seems
when one makes an effort to realise their dreams.
So often we struggle and can give up
when persistence might capture that victor’s cup,
We learn too late once the chips are down,
how close we came to that golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out –
the silver lining in those clouds of doubt,
And it’s hard to tell how close you are,
It may be near but can seem so far,
So stick to the goal when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worse that you must never quit!

So long as there’s life, there’s hope.

Love and light,

Eliza

  1. i think of quitting all the time.
i always want to give up.
    so often i feel defeated,
    isolated, lonely.
    maybe i do give up.
but somehow, no matter how much giving up i really do,
i always find that i keep going anyway.
i don’t know how or why except that
    well,
i just gotta keep going so i just do
